Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it and what you can ask us to do about it. Written in plain English rather than legal boilerplate. Last updated 30 September 2026.
Who we are
Oakmere Marketing Ltd builds websites and does SEO for local businesses. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17337799, with our registered office at 11 The Yews, Saltney Ferry, Chester CH4 0BX. We are the data controller for the information described below, which means we decide how it is used.
You can reach us at info@oakmeremarketing.com, on 0330 179 7164, or by post at the address above.
What we collect
When you ask for a free preview through the form on this site, we collect your name, phone number and what your business does. Your area, email address, website address and any message are optional.
When you contact us by phone or email, we have whatever you tell us, plus your number or email address.
If you become a client, we hold the details we need to run the work: your business and contact details, the content and images you send us for your site, enquiries your website receives, and billing records.
If we approach you, we use business contact details from public sources such as company websites, business directories and Companies House. We only contact businesses this way, never individuals at home, and every message tells you how to stop hearing from us.
Website activity. This site counts how many people submit a form or tap a phone number. That count records only the date and the type of action — nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies, no advertising pixels and nothing stored on your device, which is why you are not asked to accept anything when you arrive.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare your preview. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To deliver and support the work for clients, including invoicing. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you, plus our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
- To tell businesses about our service. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in finding customers. You can tell us to stop at any time and we will.
- To see whether our own website works. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in improving it. No personal details are involved.
We do not sell your information to anyone.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of suppliers to run our business. They handle information only to provide that service to us, under contract:
- Google — our email, and the spreadsheets behind our client dashboards.
- Vercel — hosts this website and the dashboard.
- Anthropic — the AI we use to draft website copy and reports. We do not send it your contact details.
- Stripe — takes payments. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see them.
Some of these suppliers are based outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK it is protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
We also share information with our accountant, and with anyone we are legally required to give it to.
Enquiries through a client’s website
If you filled in a form on a website we built for one of our clients, that enquiry belongs to the client — they decide how it is used, and their own privacy notice applies. We pass it to them and store it on their dashboard on their behalf.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become work are kept for 24 months and then deleted. Client records are kept for as long as we work together, and the billing records for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because HMRC requires it.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. If that ever changes — for example if we add analytics — we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we do not need to keep it;
- stop using it, or limit how we use it;
- hand it over to someone else in a portable format;
- stop sending you marketing, which we will action straight away.
Email info@oakmeremarketing.com and we will reply within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information we will update this page. This version was published on 30 September 2026.
